I'm trying to lose weight. One the weekends I like to have a few cold ones. Even light beer still has calories and carbs. Is it better to drink liquor. If I can't drink beer I enjoy vodka and cranberry juice. Does this sound better for me than beer? Thanks in advance.

Believe it or not ... Guinness is one of the healthiest beers (and by far the best tasting, simply put). It's a real beer too!

But red wine is better for you.

Best to quit alcohol all together. it's expensive, it's toxic, and it makes people act some damn fools. I know, I was only recently an annoying 21 year old binge drinker. (shakes his head).

Best 'o luck. Try the Guinness...but in extreme moderation.

Wow, some of the other responses here sound really crazy. I mean, you didn't say you wanted to stop drinking and wanting a drink does not make you an alcoholic!

I'm on a diet too and I steer clear of beer. Somebody suggested drinking Guinness and I think that sounds like a terrible idea. In Ireland they call Guinness a meal (because it has so many calories in it!).

I think your vodka and cranberry juice sounds like a good idea. I drink rum and Diet Coke, myself...but whatever your hard liquor of choice!

Really no drinking is best for you when you are trying to lose weight but if you must then

stay away from beer. Its the fastest alcohlic weight gainer out there
no shots- they screw up your system more then you would know
hard alcohol is prob the best for you per se

or wine. Id go with the wine the best. Its a heart helper!!

NONE...abstain. If you can't have fun and relax without a chemical (alcohol) then you should seek treatment from your doctor for an addiction.

All this business about alcohol being good for you is not true. Even the American Heart Association admits that if you aren't a drinker you should NOT start assuming you'll gain any benefit because the downsides outweigh any gains. Check out the website.

Best wishes in overcoming!

A shot of day benefits your health, recent studies say.
Just have a shot a day or on holidays.
