Is it true that if you dont eat anything after 7pm you can stop putting on as much weight. I heard that you store more fat if you eat late at night. Is this true and what are the benefits or not eating after 7pm?

Eating later just means you have less time that evening to use the energy. It will be stored until you need it in the morning. There's no real evidence to suggest that eating late will do you any harm (or good).

That is not true. My class had a nutritionist to talk to us. She said that the whole "not eating after 6PM" was a myth. She said that our bodies need a total of 2000 calories per day and that it does not matter what time of the day that you decide to eat them... Just as long as you do not go over the 2000 limit, you will not gain weight. People just came up with this myth because it is harder to burn the calories that you just ate because you are sleeping... when you are motionless... then you are obviously not going to burn any calories :)

And from personal experience, I have lost A LOT of weight... probably around 50lbs and I eat at around 8PM everyday. But the difference is that I trick my body into thinking that I am going to eat 2k calories, but I actually eat less. The only way to loose weight is to eat less calories and burn the calories. Try walking for 45 mins five times a day, that is what I do and my tummy is now flat.

The body has a clock that tells it when it's time to sleep so the body starts to shut down unnecessary functions .After about 6 in the evening it slows down your metabolic rate..so if you eat after this time it is slowly digested and you retain more of the fat content..That is why breakfast is so important .as this wakes up your metabolic rate and starts to digest food at a faster rate thus less intake of fat as this is passed through the system before it has a time to break down and be ingested..think of the body as a factory for burning fuel..if you close down the furnace at night it needs less fuel to feed and keep the fire going..if you bank up the fire ..you not only get indigestion..as it tries to burn the fuel it clogs the process and you retain clinker(fat) a morning fire burns more furious and there is no build up of clinker(fat) work with your body not against it and stay healthy..a light snack at night is okay but don't over do it...

It's not a specific time. It's not eating for 3 - 4 (or more) hours before you go to bed. It take 2 hours for your stomach to empty itself. Then the food starts moving down your digestive tract, where the calories are absorbed.

There is some evidence that sleep, or lack of sleep, effects weight loss. The more beneficial sleep you get, your ability to lose weight increases.

Knowing that, eating close to bedtime hinders your ability to get a good nights sleep. The energy it takes to digest food also keeps you awake.

yes its true that u store more fat if u eat late at nite coz fats are synthesized after 12 midnite. the after 6pm diet works under that principle. advantages of not eating after 6pm (or 7pm): lesser chance of cholesterol build up, and of course u'll lose weight.
