After the initial bleeding stops from delivering (via vaginal or c-section) the time crunch will vary. It really depends if you are nursing or formula feeding. Those who nurse tend not to have periods right away. I did not have a period until my son was 9 months. With my daughter, she was 6 months. This is caused by the contracting of the uterus. When formula feeding, you can start your period at any time. You may end up stopping your initial bleeding and then a week later have your first period. Annoying I know, but will soon pass. Your body will start to regulate and you'll feel normal again.
Good luck.

If you aren't nursing, then your first period should begin with six to eight weeks after your little one is born. If you are nursing, it can be much longer, as nursing prolongs your menstrual cycle from starting up. If you're concerned, call your OB and share whats going on. Hope this helps a little! Annie

Within 6 weeks or a little after unless you're breastfeeding, which could mean that you won't get a period.
Good Luck

If you are breastfeeding, it might not start until you stop breastfeeding your baby.
