Try doing sit-ups in the morning and again in the evening, but not too close to bed time. Start off with 4 sets of 25, of the regular set-ups, morning and evening. That will give you 200 a day to start. Do this every other day for two weeks. At the start of the third week, do (morning and evening) 4 sets of 25, of the regular set-ups, and 4 sets of 25, crunches. That will put you up to 400 a day. Try this for three weeks. If that's too much, you can always reduce the amount. Also, keep a log book of your workout progress, that way you'll be able to look back and see exactly how long it took you to achieve the results that you're happy with.

If you are really that lean and you do them correctly in 4 to 6 months.
Do as many as you can. Don't worry about burning out. Take a day off when you want to but not more than 72 hours.
Make sure you are isolating your abs. If you use a stabilizing ball (you should) reach around and feel your hamstrings as you do a pelvic tilt while crunching(pushing your spine into the ball while contracting your abs to lift your pelvis, while exhaling). They should be flaccid. If they are tight you are cheating by using your legs as helpers.
Lift your chest to the ceiling rather than to your knees. Keep your chin way back - fix your stare on something on the wall behind you, as you lift. If you put your hands behind your head make sure your elbows stay back, arms parallel to the floor. This will take your sternoclydomastoids (sp?) and traps out of it.
Hold a 25 lb. plate on your chest as you lift. Don't waste too much time on leg lifts. You cant see the soas or hip flexor mucsles, they're burried.
Twist for obliques - they look quite sexy.

YOu need to vary the exercises or you won't see anything happen. Can't just do situps. The abdominals muscles are varied and you're probably only working one group.
