I built a speaker box out of particle board and was wondering if ordinary black paint would stick to it without flaking off, or is their another type of paint that is better (maybe a certain name brand)

It should works as particle board is very porous, maybe even a primer first.

If you ever decide to change the enclsosure, you may want to use MDF next time.

Try RhinoLining, something cheaper preferably! Also known as undercarriage paint. Comes in cans, can get from Wal-Mart. -Will cut down on resonances as well as comes in many different colors to suit your taste!
