we have a mexican girl 23 years old that has been working for us for the past year. she speaks no english at all. she works 11 hours a day and is the only mexican there along with my mom and cousin. i try to converse with her to keep her from being bored but conversation is somewhat difficult. i know some spanish because i took 3 years in high school. we had some decent conversations before and i try to talk to her everyday. she only speaks when i talk to her and never talks to me. she is not a shy person. when i stand next to her it feels awkard like she is trying to avoid eye contact with me and she looks uncomfortable when im close. should i just stop trying to speak to her.

I agree with just look.. Be patient with her and give her time to feel comfortable. You don't know what kind of life she has had at home.

Yes I think you should not crowd her as this isn't helping the situation between you two. Learning more Spanish would help the cause! Maybe she feels that you are trying to come on to her by standing to close to her. Back off and let her do her job! You don't want to scare her off. Hope this helps. Cocoa

I think if it is bothering you this badly, you should ask her about it, if possible. If you quit trying, that would be awkward too, because you would continue to see her. Find a way to ask her if she'd rather not have you speak with her. At least then you'd know.

I think you should just ask her if there is something bothering her about you. Or if she feels uncomfortable around you. Maybe she is feeling uncomfortable because she likes you and is shy herself

She's shy.....keep talking to her she probably appreciates the conversation more than you know. If you stop talking now she might think you're upset with her.

I don't think she likes talking to you. Maybe you should let her be and let her come to you.

Hey !! She likes you.

The racial barrier scares her.
