I have a big problem with my computer. I download songs into my computer but it does not want to play them because it says that there is no audio device installed. No sounds want to play. Not even the computer sounds. No sounds at all. The speakers are working connected properly and everything is the way it has to be but no sound. When I go to Volume Control from the START menu it tells me " There are no active mixer devices available.

You need to install the drivers for your soundcard.
Right klick on "My Computer" and choose Settings...
There go to the Hardware Tab and klick on "Device Manager".

Look for any Devices with a question mark (?) or yellow circle with exclamation Mark (!).

Since I don't know, your sound-device, I guess you should find the drivers on the CD that came with your Motherboard or Soundcard.

Insert the correct CD, then right click on the incorrectly installed sound device and choose to install or update drivers.

If you have the correct CD, Windows will probably find the drivers and install them for you.

First... Reboot. This may fix it, if it worked at one point. If not:

If your sounds work on some programs, but only no sounds in your media player (iTunes, Windows Media, etc.), then maybe the program needs to be reinstalled, or configured. If there are simply no sounds on your computer at all, you may just need to reload the audio card drivers.

If you have any CDs that came with your computer, or sound card (if you got it seperately); use the CD. Just run the setup program on the CD that pertains to audio card setup.

If you don't have any CDs for your computer. Right-click on My Computer, click Properties. Then go to Hardware, then Device Manager. You should be able to find either Audio Controller, or Sounds Card in the list. You will know of any hardware thats not working correctly; the icon will have a yellow-triangle-with a ! or a ? by it. Right click on the icon indicating the problem, then go to reinstall drivers. Use all of the standard options, maybe it will want to search the internet for the best driver.

Maybe you lost your driver; that happened to me recently. I went to DriversHQ.com (because I don't know TOO much about this stuff!) but it found the driver I needed automatically and !!! my sound works perfect again. I bought the program and it updated all my drivers automatically. Just a thought. Hope it helps. E
