Can you swim?

All of the previous answers are wrong. They arent totally wrong, but they all are talking about it from what they have seen in movies.

You obviously have to be in good shape, and need to be a great swimmer.

Join Cross Country, Join the Swim Team. That will be enough to get you there. Its not really strength you will need, it is endurance.

When you join the Navy you cant go right into being a Navy Seal job. You will pick a job that interests you and you will recieve your training in it.

During your skill training is when you can first try to get into the SEALS.

You will have to do an Indoctrination Test. It will consist of swimming and running as well as some other obstacle course type activites. It will be very hard.

If you pass that you are then put into the BUDS program.
I forget what it means. In the BUDS program you will still be in training for your skill, but you will do extra training to prepare for the SEALS.

Upon graduation of your MOS school and satisfactory rating in the BUDS program you will be selected for Seal Indoc.

I dont need to explain what SEAL indoc is, because if you get that far, you will have heard many many rumours. Its hell week basically. You get through that (atleast half drop out voluntarily because of how tough it is) and you keep training with your seal team.

If you are really into the Recon type of work, you may want to Consider the Marines. Less than 1% of the navy are seals.
I laugh when i see their comericals.

In the Marines you will have many opportunities to train hard and be a combat killer. Every Marine is trained to be a rifleman. You can go Infantry if you really want to as well. Or if you want more you can join Force Recon. (The Marines Seal team so to speak) You will be doing everything seals do, but you also jump out of planes and conduct recon missions.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me. I know alot more about Marine Corps issues being an active duty Marine but i do know some about the navy as well.

I dont reccomend the navy. Who wants to sit on a ship?

BEST ANSWER, i know.

It's a good thought and be preparing for your future. First of all you got to have a degree, a good education (schooling) and after 17 or 18 pass age, you got to join for Navy, police, army, somekind of traning, Navy education too I suppose. Why don't you contact, Navy Head Office either, sent a letter to them same as What you asking question and need a answer to your plan, and you will get better, right answer from straight Army Head Quaters. I have feeling every post theire's a some degree Course to follow, and you better find out now it self and try to get little by little informationt and start study about Navy duties. You got to have a better, clean Charactor, not involve un-nessary crime, good reputation, and work hard, do some volunteers, enroll Boys-Scouts, Camping, try and get some Credits for you to be qualified. Where ever your'e, you got to research according to the country, cities, town, Rules and Regulations, Law, Education-background, under Government Authority information. Why don't you inquire from your Parents, School Head Principal, Teachers or elders, who have experiences and you will have a better answer? Basically, need education, good Health, you got to be strong, good manner, be ready for all the exercises, got to wake up early to go for trainning once you registered, and it;s a hard working up and down all kinds of trainning. you will know, once you come to 16, 117, 18, ages and be prepared, don't give up and accomplish your goal. You can get the information from the googles and ask your question with details, and Computer will give you the answer. before, any plans, first try to study, reach up to Grade at least 12, or 13 grade. Once you got that education, your on the go. I wish you luck.

The first thing you should find out is if they have any height requirements. Then if you are tall enough just start getting in shape. Sports is the best for your age and running. When you are 17 start weightlifting. And when you are 18 join the Navy, from there you'll find out soon enough.
Oh yeah, finish school, start swimming and stay out of trouble(no alcohol, no drugs and nothing that can get you in trouble with the law).

running and push ups are a good start Have a sport for every season and never ever, ever quit
in the middle of a season.
Seals never quit when committed to a mission.
Building an exceptional athlete which all seals are is a long slow process. Work hard, don't quit and you will be in good shape by the time you can join.
and remember you also need to finish high school seals also have to be good students and pass tests!

SWIM! try running as well, you have plenty of time to prepare so just stay in good shape push ups, sit ups, pull ups especially. the pull ups will definitely help you in the long run. Stay in school, try for Annapolis (if you don't get navy seals you can still be a navy officer). Look into ROTC in different college they may be able to help you. keep your GPA at least a 2.5, 3.5 to be competitive. good luck!

Stay in school, do all your work, be active in Scouts (earn your Eagle award) exercise your body as hard as your mind, become exceptionally disciplined in every task you undertake. Remain focused. Remember that only about 3 out of ever 100 persons who attempt to join the SEALS make it. And keep a good attitude even in the face of failures. And keep your nose clean, every facet of your life (including who your friends are) will be examined.

The most important things are to stay in school, and study hard. Keep your nose clean. Your entire life will be scrutinized if you want to join the Seals. Good luck.

Watch Rambo all day long and play Metal Gear Solid, for Playstation, two to three times a week. I'd also recommend watching any war movie prior to 1975. Try to get a healthy dose of any movie that glorifies guns, really.
