I just read that as an answer to a question.

Wouldn't it better serve God to get out in the world and help your fellow man?

top con, The great German mystic, Hildegaard von Bingen, reported that one day, while at prayer in her room, she had a vision of the Virgin Mary. It was glorious and powerful. And just then, someone came to the door of the nunnery to beg for food. Though tempted to stay, Hildegaard left her vision and fetched a bowl of hearty soup for the beggar. When she returned to her chamber, she was shocked to see that the vision was still there. She asked the Virgin,"Why did you stay when I got up and left to go feed that beggar?" The Virgin replied, "Had you not gone, I could not have stayed."

In other words, it is not enough to pray or perform rites of worship to whatever deity you to which you subscribe. One must go out into the world and act with compassion to ease the suffering of others. its a metaphor top con.

Although praying and worshiping God is a good way be, in 1 John 5:3 - This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.

The only way to show God that we love Him and serve Him the best way, is to be obedient to all His commands. God knows that we cannot obey all the commands, but we must do our very best, and grace will carry us the rest of the way.

Praying and worshipping God is the best way to serve him b/c you are showing Him that you are not afraid to stand and show everyone else what God has done for you.

You can serve God by doing both. Praying and worshiping God is having a personal relationship with Him; and helping your fellow man is reflecting his agape love. God is love, and helping others spreads that love!

Peace,

Hope

Personally I think the best way to serve the divine is by working hard and improving oneself. It is called using to the full extent what one has been given.

we are told to "do unto others as we would have Him do unto us". that means going out into the world and ministering to those that need it. then we go to church to thank Him for what he's given us and we pray for strength and guidance to help those we see. as was already said, we do all of that to serve God. you don't have to go anywhere special to pray. I do it all day long in my head.

Because that is telling God that you can't live without Him. As a Human, you will make mistakes and run into problems that you can't fix, with His help, His will either fix them or make you strong enough to endure your troubles, that is doesn't bother you anymore.
