what about Southern Oregon?

From a personal observation, the number of jobs listed in the newspapers appears to be increasing and the types of jobs I've seen listed show that there are new positions being offered, not just replacing existing positions. They are also for more skilled workers, not just general labor. The biggest area seems to be in the medical profession - either in office personnel or as nurses and physicians. The latest figures show the unemployment rate is declining slightly, and at a historically low level for the state (not the lowest, but low).

I'd look at the Oregonian (http://oregonlive.com) and the Register Guard (Eugene) classifieds in the newspapers online to get your own feel for the state.

Most jobs are located between Salem and Portland. There is not a lot of employment in Southern Oregon.
