Frequent colds may be viral or allergy. If they are viral, the child will outgrow them as he develops antibodies. Is there allergy or asthma in the family? if so, treat with an antihistamine such as cetirizine or diphenhydramine. Frequent ear infections could be due to bottle- feeding with the head low. Do not let the child sleep with the bottle in his mouth. Prop the head up when bottle- feeding, so that milk does not go into the Eustachian tube. Use normal saline to clean the nose. Steam inhalation also helps. Give vitamin A to prevent frequent infections. Does the child go to day care? He could be coming in contact with other children with infections there.

Besides going to the Ear, Nose and Throat doc also incorporate OJ or something with Vitamin C. Build the immune system naturally. Remember though. If a child doesn't get sick then they wouldn't have an immune system. Every cold gotten over is 1 in the win column for you and your baby. Strong baby!!!

Protect the child from cold.Maybe the child is eosinophilic, i.e; having excess eosinophils in blood, which makes him prone to suffer from bouts of cold.Maybe this is allergic reaction to something in the infants food, either directly given to him or through his mother.Maybe you are exposing him to some particular allergens, like pet animals, pollens, dust etc.Whatever be the cause, consult a paediatric and get the blood of the infant tested for DC and TLC.If the doc prescribes, keep the child under controlled medication,if required, steroid aerosol or drops at the time of distress should be administered but only UNDER STRICT OBSERVATION.My both the kids sufferred from chronic congestion and cold, which would finally convert to Asthamatic condition every 15 days. But a strict regime of medication consisting of antibiotics coupled with steroids, kept them alive and after they attained the age of 5-7 years their condition automatically improved. But ear infection should not be left alone. It could be because of constant cold sufferred by the child, and has also to be given, equal importance. An ear infection can rapidly transfer to the brain and cause life threatening situation like encemplalitis, meningitis even tetanus.Hence dont neglect, and always consult your doc in such matters.Over internet, you can only get a laymans advice, like from me,but listen to what your doc has to say cause he knows best.

first thing and I am sure your doctor asks this all the time does your child come in contact with second hand smoke??? this is a major reason for recurrent ear infections, if the answer is no then have your child's tonsils checked and if that comes back OK then maybe your child has allergies and only you know the environment in which you live in. and as far as the smoke even if you do not smoke around the baby, it is still on your clothes and hands.

my daughter went through that and she had to have tubes put in her ears, twice nonetheless. Consult a ears, nose and throat doctor for your child.

If you have him in daycare that could be a big part of it, otherwise maybe you should ask his doctor why this is alwyas happening but from experience they will probably just say oh, he'll be fine.
