No, Judas did not carry out what Jesus wanted him to do, Jesus just had "foreknowledge" of what he was going to do.

And had known what he was going to do even before the creation of the world, it was all a part of God's redemptive plan for mankind, Judas had free will to do what he did, God just used that free choice as part of His plan.

I thought that myself at times, but Paramahansa Yogananda (a yogi from India who came to the US in the 30s) was asked that question and he said Judas was a full disciple of Jesus. Although Jesus was going to be cruscified (regardless if Judas did anything)...Judas did not have to betray Jesus. Jesus knew what was going on and there was no reason to stop Judas from using his freewill.

Judas chose to betray Jesus and so was scorned. He didn't help the situation...it would have happened anyway.

Jesus didn't "want" him to do it. Jesus knew Judas was going to, and knew what he himself had to do. Don't confuse that with Jesus WANTING one of his apostles to betray him.

Judas is scorned because he was not forced, against his will, to betray Jesus to carry out prophecy. The prophecy was based on what was going to occur, of Judas' own free will.

Judas betrayed Jesus for money. I don't know what more reason for scorn there could possibly be. To betray the Lord and Savior of the world for thirty pieces of silver is dispicable. The fact that it was destiny for the Son of Man to be sacrificed for our sins is irrelevent. Betrayal is betrayal.

in the testimony of judas it is said jesus knew he must die for out sins and so asked judas, mis trusted follower, to assist him by turning him in. This way if he was just "discovered" they may also punish his apostles as well. He KNEW the last supper was his last because he planned his capture. In the new testament it speaks of him knowing he would be betrayed, of course he did he organzed it. Judas' only fault was to take the coins in exchange. This is if you believe in the books of judas. He betrayed Jesus. Although this had its place in the scheme of things.....no, Jesus did not "want" Judas to do that; He merely knew that Judas was going to do that.

Actually, I bet he wouldn't have done it if Jesus hadn't asked him to. That is between Jesus and Judas. If that whole Christianity thing is true, I'd imagine they have worked it out by now.

I think its the fact he commited suicide and the catholic view that it is wrong. However Peter denied Christ 3 times is what Judas did any different. I think Judas was truely repentive I think he just handled the situation without thinking, we all do that time to time.

He always had a chance to change his mind. He was free. But I think he is not scorned because he betrayed Jesus, but because he did not trust God for forgiveness after his betrayal (he committed suicide).
