why is it impossible to instill this knowledge to the younger generation. dont get me wrong i was no angel when i was a teenager,far from it. but as ive got older ,well you learn about life dont you.im 42 now and probably am concidered an old fart by the younger generation.but does anyone else feel frustrated by the apathy and lack of respect for the older generation by todays youth.i mean most of the local kids around my area dont even offer up there seat on a bus to a pensioner.little butt wipes dont seem to realise these people fought in a war to make there lifes so rosy. perhaps someone should tell them we all turn in to our mums and dads. what do you think about them[yes i know not all] but when i see how so many act in public i think back to my youth and think my god if me and my mates of when i was there age i would of kicked there *** big time.by the way the reason i am asking this is ive just come back from the curry house where i witnessed 5 young men beating 1

I agree with you. I am afraid there is no easy solution, and certainly no quick fix. The best we can do is train about respect and proper behaviours when young (home and school), like the idea of giving up a seat, which I readilly do.
As far as criminals, we need to have laws that harshly punish those who take advantage of or physically assault or abuse the elderly and weak, and for that matter animals as well, and who do damage to property.

like you said, you learned as you got older. most of them will learn as they get older as well. and there is a bit of difference between 5 men beating up another man and giving up your seat on a bus. one is criminal behaviour, the other is just rudeness. it is annoying though and you can at least be content that what goes around will come around. (hey, maybe because you and your mates were so rotten is the reason no one is giving up their seats to you now! =D )
