I reserved too late, and the train is sold out. I don't want to go by bus. is there ways I can still get onto that train? can I buy ticket for another train and get onto the train first....? or have to wait till the last minute untill sb. cancel the reservation?

It really depends on when and where you're departing from and how much you want to pay. Have you checked to see if sleeper accommodations are available. Sometimes they are even if coach is sold out (or vice versa). On some trains Amtrak will also let you sit in the lounge, particularly if your trip is for a short distance. You might also try looking from other nearby stations to see if there is availability from them. Sometimes there is, even if there isn't from your nearest station.
