The fact he is 14 may be the deciding factor on what to do. You should consider taking your beloved companion to the vet and decide if he is nearing the end of his time with you. Sometimes it is difficult to acknowledge the end may be near, but remember when he could run, play, fetch, and know that he isn't enjoying the embarrassment of messing the floor like a little puppy, either. Give him the respect he deserves and take him to a vet for his opinion of if he still has an opportunity for another QUALITY amount of time. If the inevitable happens, remember the fun you had with him as part of your life, that is why God put dogs on the earth for us.
Best wishes on the outcome, all of us will be thinking of you and your friend!!

P.S. Yahoo the poem "If it should be"...it will help

I'm so sorry to say this, but it seems as if your dog is dying. He's old, has lost control of his body functions, and can't hold his head up. While I do hope everything turns out OK, I tend to believe that he's slipping away. Please let the Dr put him down. It's so hard to do, but it would be easier on him than suffering like that for days. Even if he doesn't seem to be in pain, he's suffering in his mind knowing that he just isn't the dog he used to be. Take comfort in knowing that he died at peace, knowing that you still loved him and he did nothing wrong, since that's mostly what a dog lives for--to love and be loved, and to please their best friend. I'm very sorry, but I know you have a ton of wonderful memories to help you through this.

The question to you is why have you ever no longer taken her to the vet already? whilst my canines are ill or harm and that's severe I take them to the vet authentic away. i do no longer anticipate an appointment. This canines has suffered for 6 days and you have achieved no longer something to help her. the following day may well be too previous due.
