This is just an observation, but I get taxis everyday, and not one of the taxi drivers that pick me up ever wear seat belts! I wont get in a car unless I can use a seatbelt, I think its really stupid to put yourself at risk unneccessarily. Also, isnt it illegal?? So... my question is whether taxi drivers are exempt from the laws surrounding wearing seat belts? And even if they are, why the hell dont they wear seat belts?! They're in the car all the time, and therefore surely more likely to have an accident...?!

Taxi drivers can park where they like, stop when they like, indicate only if they are in the mood, they do as exactly as they please so if they dont want to wear a seat belt more fool them but is illegal just like it is for everyone else.

Taxi drivers face more dangers than just a collision. In most countries they are exempt from seat belt laws, because the belt makes it harder to escape the car if they need to (robbery, etc.). Lawmakers consider robbery to be of higher risk for taxi drivers than collision.

taxi drivers and passengers should wear seat belts and a law should be passed to nullify their expemtion. but if you're a brainless dimbwit that wants to be fined for not wearing it and like the prospect of being killed in a car accident regardless of how miner it looks be my guest.. we could use some population decreasement on this earth

No, taxi drivers are not exempt from wearing seatbelts, nor are they exempt from the laws of physics.

Anyone who doesn't wear one is a fool.

I don't wear my seat belt because I have the right to make that choice and quite personally I don't mind being dead. As long as you wear yours whenever you feel like it that's fine. If I drove a cab for a living I would want to die anyway.

They don't have to by Law, because they could be required to get in and out frequently or get straggled by them from behind, if someone wanted to rob them.
