that is easy people will be awake less time during the dark so use less electricity for lights
and less coal is burned to produce electricity

The theory is that there is a shorter time between when you turn the lights on in the house and turn them off when you go to sleep.

More daylight during the waking hours means less electricity used

Longer days and you won't be turning your lights on inside.
You will have more cookouts outdoors.
Farmers will have longer days to grow foods.
