My mind litterally controls me. The problem is that my mind is out of control. It can be obsessed with a quiet ticking sound while the others in the room can concentrate on thier work.

It (my mind) becomes do obssesed that is can no longer relativize and prioritize events in my life.

How can out get control back of my mind?

First thing to do is to stop thinking so much ... seriously.

"relativize and prioritize"?

Words that were not need and most likely run through your mind as you think about your obsessions and your life in general.

Second and lastly there is nothing you can do but have another obssession control you. It's what makes you human.

People give up drugs for cigarettes, sugar for sex, crime for religion, etc.

People have to have something that control their minds otherwise they are nothing more than animals.

Think about this: If you didn't obsess about SOMETHING then you theoretically are living like an animal; just waiting on life to happen.

The catch is to channel bad obsessions into good ones. Instead of being obsessed with the 'quiet ticking sound' be obsessed with looking at the stock tickers on various websites. It may not be productive for your JOB, but it is productive for your state of mind. Go click around Wikipedia and learn random trivia. Go take a walk and try to learn what other people are doing in their positions (if you are sociable and this won't get you fired).

Key: Don't trade your menial obsessions for other ones because you think the first menial obsessions were menial. Read into this deeply because humans may not be on this earth for long lifespans, but for some strange reason we have a hell of a lot of free time.

Take for instance me. I am here giving you advice and I have my own little obsession: writing advice on the Yahoo! answers trying to be Dr. Phil. Hey, we all have our own obsessions ...

Everybody here is correct. A little medication goes a long way. I was diagnosed with OCD and I had the same thing... now it's GONE. 10mg Celexa - 3-5 times a week before bed. Bam. All symptoms under control. Do yourself a favor and look into it. It's no big deal.

Get medicated. I mean it. Talk to your doctor. They have decades of studies on just this problem, lots of meds they have improved greatly. You can talk to your doc, tell him or her what your issues are, what you are worried about with meds. Also, you may want to take the list of $4 drugs they have at walmart or target, if you are worried about cost.

These drugs can be a miracle for you. Imagine them doing only what you want them to, to take the edge off, make you feel relaxed and totally 'normal', no more obsessive behavior. They can really do that.

probably medication, although, technically, that's relinquishing control of your mind, but maybe that's what you need to do to an extent.

i'm not suggesting you go join a cult or anything like that, but you could be put on meds to help control the anxiety that is making you so dysfunctional.

Try to start meditating. Just 10 minutes a day can really help to calm and relax your mind.

Concentration is natural and don't say no to distractionsl.

Mind likes something and accepts something - concentration naturally happens else one is naturally distracted.

Controlling mind is absurd. Understand mind.
