zach: the problem is everything i have looked at is just a theory and i am looking for a solid FACT

also i am not looking for an answer with it is the most widely ACCEPTED ideas out there, thats the same as a theory even if 99% of scientists BELIEVE it

natural: so far i haven't been given any real proof that evolution is real so all you can do at this point is believe it happened, and i wonder why they teach it in school when it's not even a tried and true science

oh and i have done research on the fossils, it's just creatures that lived and died a while ago and they don't have steps that show they evolved they are just a different kind of species, like a there are different monkeys around the world, doesn't mean they evolved

no, I don't.
Evolution in itself doesn't make sense. If we came from monkeys why are we still no coming from monkeys? I enjoy science, but i know that there is a higher power and a creator of all thing (GOD).
Doesn't the idea of evolution begin by saying light hit the water? if that is so who created the light also who created the water. I don't understand that people can live their lives and not believe in God and Jesus.
What would be the purpose of life? You live and die the end.
To you who don't believe I say try the Lord and see that he is good. If you ever feel his presence, if you ever feel the spirit move on you, You could never doubt he is real.
God Bless

There are lots of reasons to believe in the form of evidence. Over 99% of scientists working in the relevant fields of science support evolutionary theory. Many things we take for granted today are the result of what we know based on evolutionary theory. It is one of the most widely accepted scientific theories of all time. If you don't doubt the existence of gravity and the theory of gravity then you have no real reason to not accept evolution. They are both widely accepted as fact in science. The mechanisms of evolution are however still being worked out and there may be changes in our understanding of how it works but the fact it happened is not a subject that is in doubt scientifically.
Learn about it yourself, and not from a creationist website. Read some text books. Visit some credible website from the major university science departments. There is a lot of information on evolution out there. I would recomend the book "Evolution" by Carl Zimmer if you are interested in picking up a book on the subject.

Because the evidence from the fossil record alone proves it to be an indisputable fact. Forget the "it's only a theory" nonsense. It's a proven fact that species evolve and only the mechanisms involved are theoretical. Just look at some of the creationist answers above- you don't want to be like them do you and remain immersed in ignorance? They're a disgrace.

Evolution is not a faith, so there is no sense in believing in it. Evolution is a model of reality based on scientific research and logical conclusion. It has a strong scientific foundation but of course, as any scientific model, is not perfect and will always be subject to discussion and further research. That's how science works. It's not like some preacher declaring evolution as a truth, as if it were some religious dogma.

None whatsoever. I would never ask you to believe in something. I would only encourage you to look at the facts (few) and the evidence (much).
Um... to the people who say evolution is a fact, then why is it still called the "theory of evolution"? It's still a theory, think again. If it was fact, it would be the "law of evolution". The evidence is strong but that does not make it proof.

What you should do is research it.Study it for a while. It's not like a religion you just don't choose to believe. You look at the facts and see the science. You see if it makes sense or not to you. You'll need more then an answer on yahoo.Take a look.

You might want to read "A Short History of Almost Everything," by Bill Bryson. It's a very lucid survey of the history of the science involved.
I am not certain whether one "believes in" evolution, or finds that the evidence presented is reasonable.

Have you ever had a cold? Have you had multiple colds (or flu) throughout your life? Do you still get colds?
That is proof of evolution - on the bacterial level anyway. Similar adaptations and changes can be found in all species on earth, though the time it takes for these processes to occur varies from species to species.

Good question! To be honest, I never even LEARNED about evolution because I did not go to public school... I didn't even know that people in public schools learned such a thing...until recently!! But it sure explains atheists and agnostics. I definitely believe in Creation over Evolution. The only evolution I've seen happen in the 32 years of my lifetime is the designs of car models. I have seen nothing living evolve.
PS- look up what Charles Darwin said about the human eye. He said that he doesn't even think the eye could have evolved so perfectly from random cells.

There is so much evidence it is scary. Basically, there is no other theory that even comes close to fitting with the science out there.

Plus, it's been observed.
