I am being referred to hospital as i have been having problems emptying myslef properly.

The dr said they will do an ultrasound scan to see my bladder and also they will measure my 'flow rate' very discreetly....how does this happen, and will there be someone there with me when i'm weeing.......?

Thank You!

By doing sonography first on full bladder ur total urine volume can be calculated correctly then ur asked to pee privately & come back again for sonography & the residual ( remaining )urine volume is again calculated out just by doing sonography , u may be asked to collect the urine in a calibrated pot along with it & thus without watching u pee they can calculate flow rate discreetly.

no, don't worry, there won't be anyone in there. You will be shown in to a small room with a big funnel into which you have to wee. The funnel goes into a bucket but first it goes over a gauge which measures how much is coming through per second. When you are finished, you just leave the room, and there will probably be someone waiting outside for you. They already know the result because the electronic gauge sends them the information which they can then tell you straight away.

They will ask you to urinate (micturate) in a container mounted on stand & some wire attached to it & also in a rest room without presense of any body and a graphical detail will come out of the device called uriflow metere & after seeing that doc knows about strenth of your urine flow. If it is less than 15 than by ultrasound they will confirm where is the stone in your urinary system.

The flow rate?????????

I've never heard of that. But no, they probably won't be sitting in the bathroom with you when you're peeing. They'll probably give you a toilet insert that looks like a hat and measure whatever's in there. Just don't throw any TP in there or dump it out. Healthcare is very big on privacy.
