To start off, there are no such things as "Accidents". It's simply human error. Everytime something is said to have been an accident, look at the situation... it was caused by human error, therefore it was'nt an accident, it was simply a person not being alert or paying attention.

And for the "Incident", I have to agree with Lance some here. It's an occurrence or event that interrupts normal procedure; ie: the car wreck on freeway during rush hour on the way home from work, which makes you an extra 2 hours late to get home because people do not know how to drive. This would not be an "Accedent", it would be an "Incident".

I'll have to explain like this:

You're driving on ice, lose control, and hit a parked car, travel 20 ft and hit another car, and then slide sideways into a poll. You have an accident with 3 different objects, but all during 1 occurence, or incident

In an accident their is some sort of damage that can be repaired with money and time. An incident is like when you bump someones car, you both get out see theirs no damage and call it a day. Even though by law you must report it. It's just a money collection thing.

If you are talking car insurance... there are accidents, and there are incidents, or occurrences...
An accident would be a car accident... collision coverage.

An incident would either be a comprehensive claim or a ticket.

Accident. There has been property damage of some kind, and/or personal injury caused by a vehicle.

Incident. There has not been damage nor injury, but something has occurred which could have led to it.
