Doesn't the very existence of a 'pro-choice' option keep the abortion clinics open (as opposed to anti-abortion)?

Note to nhbarit: 75% of the country is not Christian. Its probably less than 10%. Does'nt matter what the "polls" say. Going to church and SAYING you are a Christian no more makes you a real Christian, than going into a garage makes you a car. As far as abortion goes, I never argue it. Anybody that believes killing babies can possibly be justified, is far beyond ANYTHING I could say. Jesus said some horrible consequenses awaits those who hurt children. In or out of the womb. May God have mercy on them......theBerean

75% of the country may call themselves Christian but that does not mean they are truely saved. You need to believe Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and your life and they way you act and the choices you make should reflect that.No Not perfect because nobody is perfect. It is absolutely horrible if someone is raped but being raped makes that baby no less of a baby or no less alive. A human heart starts beating long before someone even knows they are pregnant. Recently I read an article about a baby being born when the mother was only 21 weeks pregnant. The baby is now 4 mos old and going home and at this point the dr.s see no major neurological damage. Yes she could have some learning disablities later on that are recognized but kids born at 40 weeks have disabilities sometimes. Anyway the point to that story is that abortion can be done up to 20 weeks and in some states partial birth abortions can be done when the baby is plenty old enough to live out of the birth canal. If that baby's mother killed her the day she came out she would have been tried for murder but a week earlier she could have aborted her and got away with murder.

Given the fact that the country is about 75% Christian, and about 60% of Americans believe abortion should remain safe and legal, I think the numbers speak for themselves.
"Generally, 57 percent in this ABCNEWS/Washington Post poll say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, and 54 percent favor the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 ruling that made it so."

Pro-choice cannot be a Christian value if you are referring to abortion. Abortion is a sin against the fifth commandment. It is the same as murder.

Free will is a Christian value. The ability to choose right and wrong is a Christian value. The choice to kill your child is a bad choice, but its still a choice.

I don't think it has anything to do with christianity. My view on abortion is that it is the very last thing you would do. My opinion is that abortion depends on the situation. I'd probably abort a fetus if it were going to be born with defects that will cause it to suffer in life or if i was raped. If not, then it goes on to adoption.

I don't know but any form of a child from conception is Gods creation and is not for us to choose whether or not it lives. God gives us experiences in life so that we will have a testimony to share with others, to encourage others who are where we have been.

I've talked to some christians who feel that after a 12-year-old is raped, she shouldn't be forced to carry the baby of the rapist to term.
