Check with your bank to see if you can register with them to do digital online banking. Most banks now offer access to you accounts online. You can pay bill, transfer money from one account to another and check your credit/debit card accounts 24/7.

debit cards dont have a balance. Checking accounts do and thats what your debit card is attached to. If BNY has online banking, you can look up your checking account activity online (if you are a registered user).

call the bank you probably need ID etc to set up on online banking account

You need to have online banking with your bank. You can call or go in to have it set it up.
