I think you are referring to a test administered in the gyn's office to determine if you have a healthy uterus, no cancer cells, etc. By all means, if you are sexually active, have one. You increase your chances of developing uterine cancer with multiple partners. You can also be tested during this exam for other STD's. A good gyn is gentle, and your health is worth it.

It depends on what kind of a SMEAR test that you are referring to.If it is a PAP SMEAR that is a test done on women to detect cancers and even STD's.
