The internet is a place for starting fights, it is a sad fact of life. People who start crap on the internet are the same people who would not open their mouths about the same subject in real life. That's just the way it is.

It sounds like you're a low-life that thrives on arguments. FYI, I am an avid Christian, and you can consider me a "big talker." I keep my e-mail open 24-7 because I know there are some people out there that will crap their pants if they can't argue, and then there are some intelligent (spiritual or not) people who e-mail me with a decent conversation. I don't have a problem with people if we have different beliefs; I just don't want anybody bashing mine just because they've had a bad encounter with someone else with the same beliefs as I. I'm not going to bash yours, so don't bash mine--if you do, THEN we have a problem. I get a lot of e-mails - ignorant people and intellectual people both. I invite people to e-mail me at any cost--I ALWAYS respond. Whatever level you're on to talk, I'll be right there with you. If you talk like an a s s, I'll talk like an a s s; if you wanna talk like an ace, I'll talk like an ace.

And for the record, don't criticize what you don't understand. And don't "assume" because you'll just make an "a s s" of yourself. And it seems like you're the one who needs to shut the hell up...

While I agree with you that religion is bull, it's your attitude I have a problem with. There is no point in allowing you to e-mail me if all you're going to do is argue for the sake of argument and wind up telling me to shut up. I'll be d a m n e d if I'll shut up for the likes of you - and I'm quite sure the "big talkers" feel the same way. Now do you get it? Deal with it!

I think it's cowardice, also that they are not open to the opinions of others and are therefore not prepared to discuss their beliefs.

I have always allowed e-mail, OK on the odd occasion I've had what could best be described as "hate mail" but I've just chosen to ignore it and the senders have always given up.

I mostly answer in Pets/Cats and you wouldn't believe the number of sick people who post cruel, abusive questions and answers there - and around 99% of them don't allow e-mail - why am I not surprised?!

I agree with Kallen and some others in their responses. I leave my e-mail open for those wishing to expound or to get a detailed explanation from me. Usually, I won't respond if the respondent's message is juvenile and loaded with bad grammar and spelling.

Your question is a good example of misappropriation of English composition.

It has always appeared to me that this forum fore say attracts those that are bored and using it as a way to entertain. They do not seem to be really interested in what others believe or know. It gets very frustrating at times. As far as the email question goes that fits with what I was saying, because if they were here just to stir things up they would not want to have their emails filled with messages....

I don't have my email up because I originally got belligerent and downright crazy people emailing me. Mostly from religious zealots saying really hateful things because I am an atheist in the name of their loving deity and religion. There was no point to me in accepting these sorts of rants. Yahoo answers isn't meant to be an ongoing dialog forum, there are other places for that. It is just a Q&A format. I guess that can be frustrating at times but it is what it is.

My mailbox would be full of garbage. No thanks.

If the questioner adds comments to the question, I will respond to it here. There's no reason for a protracted discussion. If I want that, I go to Yahoo Chat or Yahoo Groups. This just isn't that type of forum.

If you don't like my answer, there are always plenty of others.

Hey, e-mail me at your leisure! I don't get nearly enough hate mail for my liking actually - though perhaps that's because in the past, instead of replying, I just paste their hate mail to me into one of their questions so everyone can enoy it!

Cowardice, most just want to say what they want, attack other people's beliefs and leave without hearing any arguement against them, so they keep their mail and IM options blocked.

Even though I do that fairly often, I still leave my mail open. I admit I am full of it from time to time, but I still like people mailing me giving their opinion on somethig I said they don't like.
