Hebrew for Dummies is actually a very good book (I was surprised) if you want to learn how to speak it. It doesn't teach you how to read or write though.

Ivrit? Cool, I'd also like to learn. U know, the fastest and the best way to study is on-line. There are a lot of sites where ivrit can be learned. That's not too expensive!

Theoretically, if you can read and write a language, you know how the words sound...or else, you which symbols makes which sounds. The rest is all about phonetics. As you were taught in school to do with your native language, sound out the words. If you think you are wrong, or are not sure, either ask the person or people who taught you, or you can go to the links I included. The wikipedia link also has other links on the page.
