From a friend:

"Living and Dying

If I live my life with meaning,
My legacy outlives my breath.

If I live my life with integrity.
My words have true meaning.

If I live my life with strong character,
My example is my greatest teaching.

If I live my life with inconditional love,
My message is to love always.

If I live my life with courage,
My inevitable journey to death will be fearless. Love...Joe"

I'm going to answer your question a little differently than the others have. My first impression upon reading it is that you were asking whether we are afraid to let go and live our lives to the fullest. My answer would be, yes, in some instances.

When I was younger I was a risk taker. It didn't matter what challenge I was presented with, I grabbed the bull by the horns and went charging in full-steam ahead. I think I had the confidence and defiance of youth on my side.

Then I had kids, and as a single mom I started questioning things. Am I a good mother? What will happen if I don't sterilize the bottle? Should my child see a doctor? What is that funny rash? Will my children succeed in school? Will they be kidnapped on the way to the bus stop?

The day before I had my first child was the last worry-free day of my life. That was nearly 22 years ago. Most of my fears as a parent were completely unfounded, but some were genuine concerns that all parents have.

So what happened is that I started second-guessing myself in nearly every aspect of my life. Realizing this doesn't make it any easier to change. Change is scary, we all know that. And it's become quite comfortable here in my little world, I'm very familiar with everything and everyone around me. But is remaining in my comfortable little world doing my family and I any good?

Probably not, yet I remain resistant to change because I no longer possess the courage and defiance of my youth.

So in answer to your question, yes, in some instances I am afraid to just let go and LIVE.

Nope. Every being's brought up in very different environments. Be contented with what you are and what you have. Seize every opportunity to live your life to the fullest. It's just a life-cycle. Everybody's been through, done that.

That would require a serious malfuction of natural programming.

Fear is a response mechanism developed due to its ability to better keep entities alive. As such, to be afraid to live would completely contradict the process that brought it about in the first place.

If I was afraid to live, I wouldn't still be alive, and thus I wouldn't be afraid of anything anyway.

So no. Obviously not.

Living is scary, its the dieing that is peaceful. There is peace in *death* if your heart belongs to Christ, BUT we have all power and authority over Satan, and others who follow him, because defeat was handed to Satan on Calvary. Amen
