a Johnny is a light sheet-like robe... i ask the question because when i was younger i was asked to disrobe by a young man. naturally i was not comfortable so i said no. i remember he was very rude and disparaging. i left but i remember seeing him and lots of people around him and a commotion occured. so i always wondered about that whether it was true i had to take my shirt off and if the commotion was people yelling at him. i had two chest xrays since with women and wasnt told to disrobe. so basically always wondered if he was a pervert. i guess its something i always wondered about. thanks.

You did the right thing when you walked away and refused. Yes he was a dirtbag wanting to ogle your breasts. As long as the bra is removed you can wear a gown. I have taken many x-rays of people and never have they ever had to disrobe. He should have been fired for that, Good Job on what you did.

I am an MD. It is quite reasonable to ask you to remove a bra, especially if there in any metal in it, since this could obscure the findings. Any clothing with buttons or other plastic or metal adornments or clasps should be removed as well for the same reasons. A cotton tee shirt is said to be the ideal clothing to wear for a chest X-ray, and if your "Johnny" is fairly light fabric with no metal or plastic or the like in it then it would be fine also. Of course the very best film would be done with you completely naked, but this is not a requirement, in most settings. Sometimes your nipple can show up as "a spot on the lung" and they might ask you to retake the film with nipple markers, so they can be sure that it is not cancer but only a nipple showing up. In that case they would attach a special marker to each nipple and re-take the film, but this is rarely necessary.

I've had chest xrays before for my lugs. I was allowed to wear a gown but nothing at all under it but panies. I don't see why you would have to be bearchested. Oh and what is a Johnny?

They never ask you to be naked for a chest x-ray. You are always issued a "gown". Even women going in for a mammogram are given gowns to cover up with & then they only have to expose each breast as is necessary.

Anything with metal in it will show up on the XRay...it is best to be naked under a robe.

I have always been able to keep on my undies (bottoms) and wear a gown when having chest x rays, never been naked on the top or bottom

yes if you have buttons on ur shirt or zip u need to take off ur shirt. But you should be given a button less gown to replace your shirt and you donot need to take ur undie/johnny off.
