Duh! No, your 8 yr old should not be lighting up your smokes. Second hand smoke kills too and that is exactly what you are exposing the child to. Tobacco kills. I watched my mom die a slow and painful death. Go ahead light up your cancer sticks...just don't let a kid who doesn't know any better do it for you.

Definately not. You shouldn't even be smoking in an enclosed area, like your home or car, with a child. Most places have now passed laws indicating smoking with them present where they are forced to breathe your second hand smoke is child abuse and you could lose custody of your children.
I can't imagine any responsible parent allowing this behaviour. You are encouraging your 8 yr old to do something that we know will endanger her health. If you want a cigarette so bad, you should light it yourself.
Oh, by the way, I have a few cigarettes a day myself.....outside, never in my home, so I'm not saying this because I'm an "anti-smoker".

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, NOOOOO!
1--What are you going to do? Tell her to STOP BREATHING? What kind of sense does that make, esp. if you're smoking indoors?
2--You are teaching her--passively and actively--that smoking is a fun, pleasureable, exciting thing to do. I'll bet that nobody else's parent is THAT waaaaaaaay cool.
This little object lesson, on its face, is unconsciounable on your part. On hers, it's and a great way to get mommy's/daddy's time and attention and to be "helpful".
Ahhh, there's nothing like bonding over cancer sticks. And, just think, they don't do lung transplants for lung cancer patients. You both can share a room in the Oncology ward, but why sentence her to that???
The things children learn and where, how, when, and who all they learn it from....and then everybody wonders why.... Hey, Joe Camel's got nothing on you....
Love's right, but I think CPS should be coming to you. Drop a dime and save yourself a trip and gas.
Notice here that I'm not EVEN trying for Best Answer points honey.
Teach the kid to cook, to skate, to garden, to knit, to play softball, to make a home movie, to organize a charity drive for cancer patients and their families--you might need her, and that drive, someday.
Also, if you ARE just trying to stir the pot, do go find something productive to do, like light up for your old granny...and inhale.

That could teach her to play with matches/lighters. That could also teach her that it's fun to smoke. You shouldn't let your 8 year old light your cigarettes. What would you do if her friend was over and you walked into her room and she was showing her friend how to light a cigarette while accidently inhaling?

How areyou sure that she wont be inhaling the smoke when she lighted a cigarette? I suggest that every time you smoke swallow the smoke and dont puff it out so that will easily get lung cancer then you will stop letting your child light your cigarette.

I used to light cigarettes for my mother and sister. I started rolling my own at age 9, and at 43 I am still a smoker.
If you want your child to start smoking, by all means, have him/her light those cigarettes. Or you can choose to do the right thing and make sure your child understands just what a filthy, disgusting habit smoking really is.
Light them yourself and smoke outside, that's what I do.

I am not sure, here's a good way to find out for sure though, walk into the Department of Children and Families, and have your daughter do your lighting up for you. See what they have to say about this.

Are you an adult? You're getting her used to the act of smoking, it will become natural when she grows up. I can't believe you're actually asking if it is OK...
