You should make sure to give him at least 45mins walk everyday, dogs like yours require a lot of exercise. They need regular walks with their owner even if they have a big yard to run around. When introducing your dog to other people, don't show excitement, you should let the dog to sniff the other people because it is the way for dogs to get to know the person. When there are guest visiting your home, guest should not show any excitement or interest to the dog. They should not have eye contact or touch the dog before the dog is completely relax and clam. You can tell the dog is clam when he is sitting down or laying on the floor nicely and looks comfortable. Do not allow dog to jump on anyone, dog should not eat before human, they also should not walk in front of human in any cases. Make sure that you put the collar right around his head, not on its neck, because dog's neck is very strong and it is difficult to have acomplete control if the collor doesnt apply properly. Make sure you walk with confident, give it a quick "yan" when it pull on leash. Build up a strong relationship with your dog by providing exercise, discipline, and affection. Dogs only listen to pack leader ad you will have to make your dog looking at you as his leader. I would suggest you to watch a show call dog whisperer or buy a book call "casar's way". It is a very good book and you can pretty much solve all problems that you have with your dog if you can apply the technique there. Good Luck.

First off, how old is he, and is he intact? It is not so much the boxer or golden that is coming out in him. It's the pitt, and they are naturally protective of their "kin". Make sure he knows that you are the leader in the pack. He will constantly test you. Every little thing counts, even him resting a paw on your foot. Give him attention when YOU want, not when HE wants it. When walking him, use a gentle leader, or a harness. A gentle leader almost looks like a muzzle, but it's not. It is like a halter for a horse. It puts pressure on certain points of his head instead of a constant pressure around their neck. If a collar is pulled too tightly you can actually crush the trachea. Bring him to a dog park. If you give him trust he will do amazing things. Watch your body language when introducing him to people. Dogs are very intune to body language. If he senses that YOU are uncomfortable with HIM meeting new people, guess what, he is going to give you exactly what you expect. Go in with confidence, not erogence, correct him when hes being bad and make sure to let your dog know that these people are alright by shaking their hands, laughing and talking. Ignore him but keep an eye on him. Once he knows that you are alright with this new person, he will be alright with them. Remember, YOU are the leader, NOT HIM. If he is not getting used to people, you are not in charge of the pack, he is. Watch his body language all the time. One more thing. TREATS. Reward his good behavior. Don't let him keep focus on the new person, you will figure out ways. He could have a bit of a jealous bone too. You are his and no one elses! Another sign that he is showing you he is boss. Good luck!
p.s. I have a rott, pitt, wolf mix and she did the same thing.

To me it sounds like your dog is very loyal and if he is a pitt mix he will definatley try to defend you... like crazy. If he doesn't bite you could slowly introduce him to other people. Like if your kid has a friend over you could make sure your dog is in a calm friendly mood, then have the kid walk slowly to him and try to touch him. All during this process you should be holding the dog and cooing in his ear. If that doesn't work obediance training might. Also, look into your dogs history... have you had him since he as a puppy or was he abused?
