Hey, for the past two weeks I've had this really strong, foul-smelling, dark brown discharge. its driving me crazy and I want it to go away, but I'm more concerned that it might mean something's wrong. A few months ago I thought I might have an STD, I had greenish discharge and it burned with I peed. I went into Planned Parenthood but they said they won't do anything without a pelvic, and I've been sexually abused in my past and I can't do a pelvic. I know most people tell me to suck it up, but I really won't do a pelvic, no matter what. The symptoms disappeared within a few weeks last time, but these ones are just getting worse. Any idea what this might be or what I can do?

Just want to add, I've had sex with one person and they've only had sex with me, AND we used protection.

I've heard they can diagnose some things by looking at your urine and some things by letting you get a swab yourself. Any truth to this? It seems logical that if its effecting my urinary tract it'd be in my urine.

I would also like to add that there is a difference between having sex with someone you know and trust and having someone you don't know at all going places where they shouldn't.

ok, the only time ive ever heard of a thick brown/blk discharge is at the end of a period when the last of the old blood is coming out. But if its strong smelling and lasting two weeks then i dont know. As far as the green discharge and burning, that sounds like gonnorhea or chamydia. If youve let the gonnorhea/chlamydia sit there for a long time then you could have developed pelvic inflamatory disease and that causes bleeding and infertility. I understand you have been sexually abused and im sorry but i need to get a pelvic exam because if u let this potential disease continue, you can become infertile. not to mention its just gross. keep this thought in mind at all times- YOU HEALTH COMES FIRST! and YOU HAVE NOTHING IF YOU DONT HAVE YOUR HEALTH!

(1) Trichomoniasis (STD) Incubation Period: If symptoms appear, it usually takes from 3 to 28 days for them to develop. A treatable bacterial infection of male urethra & female pelvis. A watery, greyish, yellowish, or greenish bubbly discharge (may become thicker)
An unpleasant odor.
Pain and itching when urinating.
Most apparent after your period.

(2) Yeast Infection- A treatable fungal infection of the vagina. White cottage cheese-like thick discharge, but no strong odor.
Swelling and pain around vulva.
Intense itching and burning.
Painful sexual intercourse.

(3) Bacterial Vaginosis- Incubation period: Anywhere from 12 hours to five days. Vaginal infection. Fluids may be foamy or frothy (heavier than usual)
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge.
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap.
Itching and burning.
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina and vulva.
The infection must be Trichomoniasis or Bacterial vaginosis.
A urine test and a swab test collecting fluid from the vagina may be done in a clinical laboratory. Please visit your nearest genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic. The service is free and your identity will be kept as confidential. If not treated, the infection may lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

You need to go the doctor. I know you have a history with sexual things but listen, an exam is not sexual and you need it. What if you have something like Syphilys (or however it is spelled, I don't feel like looking it up), it can be taken care of with anti-biotics and if you don't it will destroy your brain? Do it for yourself. Get the exam and use protection next time!!!!

sweetie not to be mean or anything but it sounds as if you have an STD. in order for someone to properly diagnose you with an STD or condition of some sort YOU NEED TO HAVE A PELVIC EXAMINATION. you will get better test results that way! GO TO A DOCTOR! THAT DOES NOT SOUND VERY HEALTHY! PLEASE GO TO A DOCTOR AND GET YOURSELF CHECKED.

Definately sounds like an STD. Go to your health department or set up an appointment with a gynecologist immediately!

don't use the excuse of past sexual abuse when deciding not to have an exam. you are having sex.
there is no way to diagnose and treat the problem without a complete exam.

I am a doctor and you are fine young lady. Most STDs of this nature will clear themselves up naturally, even putting some bacitracin on it might make the infection worse. More friction(sex) will also help clear it up quiker.

Oooh, I think you need to do what they ask to get properly checked. I'm not a doc, but that doesn't sound healthy by any means...
