Absolutely. You don't have to show any signs of a STD to get tested.

Herpes, hepatitis, HIV, and syphilis are all tested through a blood sample. Herpes is usually diagnosed by a physical exam when sores are present (that's how I was diagnosed), but a blood test can be done too.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are tested through a urine sample.

HPV is tested by getting a pap smear.

HIV personally scares the crap out of me! I watched as my uncle died from HIV/AIDS and I never want to go through that EVER! That's why every time I am starting a new relationship I get tested for all of the STDs so I know I have nothing.

You can never be too paranoid about STDs. If you are concerned get tested! It's simple, quick, and virtually painless! Good luck to you!

Yes, I did recently. Many people carry a common form of herpes that can cause cold sores. I tested postive for that strain, as will 25% of the population. The herpes virus that causes sores on your private area can be found in that same test. I think everybody should get tested yearly just as a precaution, and DON'T think it's paranoid to do so. If you're worried at all, get a test and ease your mind.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/Treatmentsherpes2015FdaK

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Sure you can, with a simple blood test. Once you've been infected, whether or not you've had symptoms, your body will create antibodies that can be detected in a blood test.

By the way, you can get (and spread) genital herpes even if there are no outward symptoms. (Earlier, it was thought you could do so only if you had open sores.)

I believe they have a test o see if you have been exposed to it. However there is no way of telling if you have the actal disease until you have an outbreak.. You could have been exposed to herpes but never have an outbreak, or possibly have one years later.

Recently developed antibody tests can determine if the person has HSV-1 or HSV-2. These tests can also tell if the individual has ever been exposed to either of these strains in the past (IgG test) or was just recently exposed to one of them (IgM test).
