Weight Loss Benefits of Eating Grapefruit
Eating grapefruit can benefit weight loss in many ways. They are low in calories, low in sodium, high in potassium and high in fat burning enzymes. These can benefit weight loss in different ways. The low calories means we can eat grapefruit freely without consuming too many calories. A low sodium intake helps flush away excess water weight caused from high sodium foods. And, the enzymes present in grapefruit help increase fat burning.
Another positive benefit of eating grapefruit is the high water content. Grapefruits are almost 90 percent water. Eating any fruit with a high water content helps boost water ingestion and research has shown that increasing water consumption can give more energy and help increase the metabolism. Many people are discovering the benefits of eating high water foods like grapefruit and many other fruits for help in losing weight.

Just a FYI post....
I can't answer your question but I did want to point out that if you are taking medication to lower your cholesterol you may want to speak with your Dr before including Grapefruit in your diet.
I take Lipitor and found out by accident that I should not eat grapefruit or drink the juice from a grapefruit. Same with anything that has high levels of vitamin C.
This from a website about Lipitor-
"Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Lipitor. The interaction could lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor."

Basically, fruits (and vegetables) help to lower cholesterol as they contain anti-oxidants i.e. Vitamins A, C and E, and they are rich in fibre. These two elements - antioxidants and fibre - are great in lowering cholesterol. And fibre encourages bowel movements. So, your frequent trips to the toilet will inadvertently help reduce weight.
BTW, Maganda, it's grapeFRUIT not grapes that the asker was referring to.
And ProudAmerican, you may want to do some research on taking Lipitor. Side effects, man! If you are open to an alternative solution without side effects, do send me an email.

Well, if you just want to know if it's effective for you to lose weight and lower your cholesterol by eating grapes, EAT. Because eating more fruits with natural sugar help a lot in losing weight plus, of course, 8-15 glasses of water a day. But then, get rid of carbonated drinks, sweets, spicy, fatty and salty food.
Have a nice day and GOD BLESS US ALL.
