There are different types of lung cancer. I didn't know this until a friend of mine found out she had lung cancer and they had to send a biopsy to the cancer center in Houston to find out what kind of cancer it was. She was first treated with
radiation, which slowed it. About a year later (2003) she still
had cancer and was sent to Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was given some experimental treatments and is now cancer free as of her last check up in January, 2007. She was told then that if they still found some cancer there was a new treatment again that they would do on her. So they are making great strides in treatment. I would definitely go to Mayo Clinic if I was diagnosed with cancer.

I don't know about a cure but there certainly are treatment options. My father's lung cancer was in remission for 8 years. It was finally his heart that killed him, and not the cancer. My stepfather however, was declared free of lung cancer but a few months later the doctors found a brain tumor. My point.. everyone is different and reacts differently to treatments. A cure? I don't know. But HOPE? Yes!

If it is caught early enough, yes. It depends how aggressive the cancer is too.
One of my friends and the husband of our cleaning lady both got cancer in 2005.
He died within six months. My friend is still alive and fighting a year later.

It is probably a tough nut to crack (so to speak). Get a good oncologist and surgeon and support yourself with a good balanced healthy diet and maybe some nutritional supplements (multiple vitamin and mineral) ...just enough vitamins, not too much. And pray.
