When I have a headache, I usually take some medication specifically for headaches, tie a bandana tightly around my head and use an ice pack. I move the ice pack around occasionally so no one part of my head 'freezes' and the whole head get the benefit of the ice. (the ice helps shrink the swollen tissues in the head that give you the headache.) I also do all this in a quiet darkened room, either laying down or reclining, whichever is more comfortable at the time.

Take some tylenol. Make sure you take the correct dosage for your age/size. This is on the bottle. Then get some rest. Turn off the TV and don't read. Stay off the computer. Eye strain can make it worse. Turn on a little light music if this will help you relax. Otherwise, lay down in quiet areas. If you begin to feel like you are going to throw up, this could be a migraine. You will feel much better if you go to the emergency room after vomitting. Throwing up makes the headaches so much worse and the doctor can give you something to take away the pain and nausea.

Hope you feel better soon. I know how bad it stinks!

I swear by Aleve. Coincidentally, I had a horrible headache this evening and it's gone now. Felt like my brains wanted to ooze out my eye sockets. Take 2 if it's a nasty one. This whole business of taking one and then waiting to see if that works is a waste of time. It's time for bed. Pop a painkiller and get some rest, hon.

Try spicy foods. A headache is the constiction of the blood vessels in your head, and the spicy food will help open them back up.

if your headache is caused by hunger, grab something to eat. If not, take an aspirin and drink coffee.
