My little girl has strep throat and was prescribed promethazine/codeine cough syrup, but her throat is still killing her. I didn't know if I could give her Tylonal with this and I won't till I know for sure.
I can't call the Dr. because they are closed. I have looked up the medication online and it doesn't say it has Tylenol in it, but im still not sure.
Anyone know?

Thanks guys, yes, I do have childrens IB as well. Maybe I will go with that instead.
And we did stock up on the cute little mini popsicles for her :o)
Hopefully the antibiotic won't take to many day to help her start feeling better!

Yes, you can give her tylenol with it. Does she ever take ibuprofen? Studies have shown that it is more effective for pain in children. I wouldn't worry about giving tylenol with the cough syrup for the first 24-36 hours. Then after that I'd lay off on the tylenol a bit. Poor little thing. :(
Have any popsicles she can suck on? Or put some kool-aid in the freezer for a few minutes and make a slush, or crush some ice and add some flavoring to it.

no, codiene cough syrup is not Tylenol. Tylenol = acetaminophen. You can go ahead and give her some Tylenol, but do it a few hours after giving the codiene cough syrup, and start with a lower dose.

No that's not Tylenol.. my daughters have taken that before.. and the promethazine is generic for phenergan(an antihistamine) .... it will be OK to give her Tylenol for pain.. or Motrin.. i would say Motrin would do better because its for inflammation too.

To be on the safe side, call an emergency room and ask to speak to a nurse. Tell her what is going on and she should be able to answer you.
