I just found out that my fiancee of a couple of years has herpes. He had an outbreak and went to the dr and he diagnosed him. Of course I was devestated, but I called my dr today and he said to wait and see if i have an outbreak before they can test. He gave me some symptoms thru email and I have most but haven't checked for bumps. I ve also had these symptoms minus the bumps on off for the last 3 years since i left my previous monogamus realtionship. So what i was wondering was if its possible I had it didnt even know it and gave it to my fiancee? ANd also how long the virus sits dormant in your system? I haven't caled the dr back yet.

you could have given it to your partner or they could have given it to you. it's also entirely possible that you each got from someone else. without a specific outbreak to point to as the cause, either one of you could have been infected years ago and just hadn't had an outbreak.

It's very possible that you had it and didn't know it. Herpes can be around a long time before presenting itself. If you had symptoms, you probably had it. The chickenpox virus (herpes) sit in people's bodies mutating for years and years befor erupting as shingles.

If you do have it, dont jump off a bridge. Get the facts and add it to your things you live with in life.
