Do either of them have a legitamate chance to win or are they just cashing in on the big pay day while they can and hoping to get lucky? They are both good fighters but I don't see them as great fighters able to win at this level at least not at this stage in their careers but I have been wrong before.

Santana -- I was a big Vinny Paz fan myself but as exciting a fighter as he was he definitely had no chance with Roy Jones -- I don't think either fight will be that lopsided though.

Kevin--Interesting bit about Sakio Bika, that could be enough of an advantage to frustrate Calzaghe if he hasn't corrected the problems he had in that fight but it would still be a shocker to me.
--Oh and Hi Ric! lol

Although Sergio Mora barely lost to Jermain Taylor in the amateurs (everyone barely losese), I dont think he has too much of a chance. He hasnt been fighting anyone near Taylor's talent (which means he and his people are protecting him until he gets a title shot while he is still somewhat famous), so I do believe he is cashing in.
With that being said, I wouldnt count Mora totally out. He has good boxing skills and knows how to win rounds. He is tall and fast and may give Taylor a few problems by punching and running. Also, because Mora is by no means a power puncher (4 ko's in 19 fights) he will not trade punches with Taylor and will go the distance and most likely lose.

On the otherhand, after The Contender, Peter Manfredo Jr has made some great moves towards being ready for this title shot. He fired his father as his trainer and hired Freddy Roach (who says Manfredo has a really good shot--see source) for a couple of fights (one versus Scott Pemberton who was pretty good.
Although Roach is now training De La Hoya, Manfredo hired sugar Ray Leonard to train him.

Also Calzaghe is aging. 43 fights and 14 years.
Manfredo does have 3 losses (Alfonso Gomez, who he later beat; and Sergio Mora twice although many people believe Manfredo won the second fight)

If you read the article under sources, Freddy Roach comments that Calzaghe had a lot of problems with Sakio Bika in his last fight, and how Manfredo had Sakio Bika as his sparring partner and destroyed him.

I give Manfredo a decent shot (I think he may win it) but I have no confidence in Mora

Well, this is boxing, the theater of the unexpected, as Larry Merchant likes to say, so anything can happen in a fight, but i just think that the talent level of Taylor and Calzaghe will be to much for Mora and Manfredo Jr. to overcome. Calzaghe will stop Manfredo by the 8th round and Taylor will stop Mora by the 10th. Manfredo Jr. and Mora are decent fighters, but in these fights they will be out of their league and both will lose badly in my opinion.

Look both can fight and both have good hand speed but I dont think either have a legitimate chance
Of the 2 Manfredo probably has the better chance. Mora is fighting the better opponent and I personally think Manfredo is a slightly better fighter than Mora.

But the beautiful thing about the fight game is that in the square circle you are only ever ONE punch away from defeat

I am all answered out, more or less popping in to say "hi" to you, no fancy answer this time. Jermaine Taylor is the more talented of the two. Some say I am wrong, I say to them, have Calzaghe fight Hopkins and Wright... then we'll talk. I know Ebo Elder from season 2... without dissing him, let's just say competionion on The Contender is not as tough as actually making it on your own. It's like having an American Idol vs a great singer who actually made it the hard way. Not to say they are not good fighters, but if they were so good, they would not be on the show. It is like throwing a bunny in a wolf's pen, you ask which wolf is better? I say they BOTH eat, lol.

Anyone who fights Calzaghe is in over their head, Joe is a tough fight for anyone. Mora would have an easier time with Taylor than Manfredo would with Calzaghe.

My guess is Manfredo Jr, Forget Calzaghe's record it will be his style that frustrates Jr when he refuses to slug every minute with him. It seems like Manfredo Jr has decent stamina but I think it'll be his own battle plan ( or lack of) that'll doom him. Calzaghe by unanimous dec.

Mrraraavis ~

Manfredo, he belongs fighting in club shows in the Midwest. Mora beat him twice so it's easy for one to come to the conclusion that he is indeed the better of the two. He's like a not so very good impersonation of a not so good Vinny Pazienza.

The pride of Providence will be stopped in less than 6 rounds. Mora loses also but by decision.

Thanks for the question Mrraraavis.
