I'm a non-smoker by choice. However, I have known so many people who smoke, and see so many especially young people smoking. Just wanting to know what caused you to start, and for those who quit, what caused you to stop? Thank you.

I honestly don't remember what made me start smoking, but I know I have quit more than once for the same reasons: I know it's not healthy, I feel better, I smell better and it's just not socially acceptable anymore. It's been 1 1/2 years now, and I will never smoke again!

i started smoking in highschool when i started going out, everybody were smoking and drinking and so did i (i was the last one of all my friends to start smoking). i quit about 3 months ago because i was hit by a car and had multiple fractures in my leg that might take a year to heal and migh not heal at all. my surgeon said if i smoke it increases healing process for 100%.

I started smoking because of a lot of stress in my life. I know that it isn't good for me but is also relieves me and makes me feel less stress and takes my mind off things.
