I have a 12 cup Aroma Rice Cooker. Sometimes (about 70 % of the time) it starts spitting water all over the place....even when I am only cooking a cup or two of rice.

The steam hole is not clogged. Removing the lid to let out steam and then replacing the lid doesn't help. Any idea why this might be happening and what I can do about it?

It is the kind where the lid comes off and there is a little hole in the lid for the steam to come out.

Does the lid come off, or do you have the kind that the lid attaches to the cooker? If you have the kind that the lid comes off like any cooking pan lid, then I think the spitting is normal. Steam just needs to come off. The steam hole is usually not big enough to let out all the steam I would guess ;)
