I had a very irritating cough and I thought it was my asthma acting up, but after testing my allergist told me no that I was fine in that department. He said I probably had gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) and prescribed Nexium. That stupid cough that had dragged on for months disappeared immediately! Oddly, I had never really been bothered by heartburn, so I was surprised by the diagnosis. But, I did some research and a nagging cough is another symptom of GERD.
Who woulda thunk it?
So, get yourself a second opinion would be my suggestion.

Does the cough get worse after you eat or when you lie down? I would see another doctor. Depending on your insurance, a specialist, pulmonologist or someone who specializes in Asthma. Drinking something warm, water, tea, coffee, will sometimes help with the cough but it's not a permanent fix. High blood pressure meds can also cause a cough in certain people. You really need to see someone for a second opinion. Good Luck!!

Go see a different Dr for a second opinion. It is not good when your Dr just blows off your symptoms. It will give you peace of mind. It could be allergies, post nasal drip that drips down the back of your throat, you may have asthma or if you are on any medicine it may be caused by that. If you smoke you might want to quit.

It could be allergies, mold spores, asthma, anything. Get a second opinion and /or ask for an x-ray referral.
