Hedge apple , sassafras, are the best along with willow.
The first two the grain is not straight it is a cross type pattern
The willow has a grain that is long and won,t slip or brake under pressure .
And if you want to go all out use Buffalo, Deer or Tiger Sinew for the string. EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT A TOP CONTRIBUTOR OF THE CHOSEN FEW I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. I DONT HAVE A LOT OF POINTS BECAUSE I HAVE A LIFE AND DONT SIT IN FROUNT OF THIS COMPUTER DAY AND NIGHT.

Your better off just buying a compund bow.

Edit: Whats you peoples problem? Whats with the thimbs down? Compound bows would be better because they are more accurate and they have less of a chance of breaking.
