I am assuming you are speaking of steroids prescribed by your doctor. The most common mental side effects are often depression, irritability and/or nervousness. To lessen the chance of side effects, the steroids are taken in doses that get smaller over a set number of time. Going off steroids 'cold turkey' is a dangerous choice. That is why it is important to gradually decrease the dosage until you are at a dosage that is safe to quit. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have especially if you become depressed while taking them.
