I have been trying to find a good song for my bridal party to dance to. We are having a patriotic wedding on 07-07-07. I was thinking more of something upbeat than a slow song. My fiance really likes the song "Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw)" by Jimmy Buffett. At first I said no to playing this at the reception but then I saw that some people are using "I've Got Friends In Low Places" by Garth Brooks and that is upbeat and funny like Jimmy Buffett's song. But I don't want to use that song by Garth Brooks just because of it's over-use by other people. So what does everyone think? Should I use the song Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw) by Buffett or not? I appreciate all answers. Thank You!

Ok, I agree about the Jimmy Buffett song, what about "Let's Get Married" by Jagged Edge?

I think that the Jimmy Buffet song is great. But honestly it may be a bit too much for some of the older or religious people to handle. And I completely agree with the Garth Brooks song being way too overused. I am probably using "New Orleans Ladies" just because I absolutely love that song. I don't care that it's not about friends or thank yous. I just love it and plus I do live in Louisiana, so it helps.

But here is a website with a couple of good song suggestions. Good Luck!

"All My Rowdy Friends" is a good one.

I am using Friends in Low Places for my Bridal Party song. Its fun and upbeat. I think some of the older people might find Why Dont we get Drunk and Screw to be inappropriate. If you don't what to have Friends in low places, try Family Traditon by Hank Williams Jr it is a bit more cleaner than Jimmy Buffets song.

You should play whatever song you like. My husband and I danced to the 'Wurzels' I even changed into my welly boots to do so. Most of the guests thought we were mad. But 4 years later our wedding is still talked about. Have a great one.

I wouldnt personally select that song for my bridal party dance, but its your wedding and you need to do what makes you happy. I guess i wouldnt select it for 2 reasons, one, the lyrics just dont seem like the weddind type and two, the beat of the song would make it a hard song to dance to. its not really a slow song, not really a fast song. but go with what makes YOU happy.

Um....hell no!!!! Do you really want to look back at your wedding video 20 years from now and say, "what was I thinking!?"

The majority of your guests (older family members) will most likely think this is horribly tacky and cheap. Your young guests might too.

Don't do it unless everyone at your wedding is a hick/redneck.

I don't especially like it, if you want something funnier, try family tradition buy hank williams jr. Its a bit of a "drinkin song", but not so blatant sexually, not quite appropriate for the grandma guests!
