Hullo Goldenangel.

The average lifespan for a person with HIV from time of infection to death is 10-15 years without treatment....... But you have to understand that this can be inflenced by a couple of factors including the general health of the individual and the risk favtors he/she is involved in. ( Smoking, Drinking, unprotected sex, pregnancy)

With treatment, the person is able to live a normal life and will live for probably more than 30 years from time of infection. We have not had people on treatment that lond though so we dont know how long. ( research the person who has been on HAART the longest).

Honestly, it really just depends. Some people get a strain of the virus that is destructive and they die within a few months or a couple of years of infection. Then there are others that can live for decades if they take their medication. Then there are non-progressors that can live a full life because the virus can not function in their system.

it varies - it can be from 6 months to 15 years. It depends on what type of virus you have and/or what type of medication you receive
