Absolutely not. STDs can NOT be contracted from a toilet seat. If they were that easily transmitted millions would contract STDs this way and that just doesn't happen.

I have personally had genital herpes and HPV for 6 years now. I lived with my younger brothers and parents for most of those 6 years and NONE of them ever got either STD from me by using the toilet after me. Even friends, other family members and boyfriends that have used the toilet after me NEVER contracted either virus from me.

STDs are almost always are spread by some sort of sexual contact. After all, that is why they are called STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).

STI's are sexually transmitted infections. They differ from STD's..(sexually transmitted diseases).

You can NOT catch an STI from a toilet seat. The active bacteria only lives approx. 5 -30 seconds without a host body. If you are extremely worried, go into the bathroom and count to 30 before sitting. If you're hyper paranoid...you can carry clorox bleach wipes with you and wipe down any toilet seat you sit on with the wipe. Bleach will kill anything that might be left. (My roommate does this)

Unless someone is running amuck in your school, rubbing their private juices all over the toilet seats in hopes of giving another anything they might have, I have to say that I believe you are quite safe from catching anything on a public toilet seat.

You can, of course, insist that the school supply paper covers for the toilet seats. I believe if you went to the health nurse and requested such, they would and should be provided.

You can tell you're at a terrible school by the lack of sex education.
No, you cant catch STDs or STIs from a toilet seat. Like you cant catch them from kissing either (except herpes).
The girls at your school with STIs have bad parents who havent looked after them properly and educated them very well.
If you think your parents are better than there's (which Im willing to bet they are) ask your parents how you get STIs and tell them why you want to know.
They will be very proud of you for confiding in them. And they'll also know that they can trust you to be sensible and go to them for advise in the future.
You could also see your school nurse. She answers these sorts of questions all the time. I should know - my mother is one!

STI's can be transmited from sharing of toilet but not the toilet seat unless you sit while its still wet from an infected person's liquids. The best precaution to take is that you should flush the toilet before and after use, also clean or wipe the toilet seat before sitting on it.

Splashing of the toilet bowl water on your self when Throwing "scud" facilitates contracting bacteria. Avoid this, be clean.

That's so funny that you ask that. Cause I was in McDonald's in downtown Pittsburgh and it was totally the grossest bathroom. I can't even explain to you how dirty it was. But, anyways I was like great I gotta go get a HIV test now. But, I was just joking. If I did get anything from that place I would say crabs or maybe a bacterial infection if my vagina touched the seat. But, it is highly unlikely. I mean you use the public bathroom every day somewhere and so does the whole world. If we were susceptible to getting STIs they would close public bathrooms down.

Before I sit on the toilet seat in public, I always put toilet paper down on the seat so it becomes a covering as I don't want to pick up ANYTHING nasty. Maybe try that!

It has been found in one of the studies that dirty toilet seats are one of the factors for UTI's. English toilet seats are specially prone for spread of such infections.Indian toilet seats where theres no touch with the hips / gluteus the chances are less for contracting infections.

They have STD'S because they cant keep their knickers on not because they graced the toilet seat!
Once your sexually active you can contract std's if your not being careful and using protection, you cannot catch std's from toilet seats!
if they have caught something nasty in the lady garden area they have nobody to blame but them selves!
