ummmmmm, i am german but i never heard of Bregenwurst.

i think it needs to be distinguished between

a) actual sausages such as bratwurst, bockwurst and currywurst which usually go as a meal with fries, mashed potatoes and such

and

b) Wurst (translate as sausage as well) which is either spread (like liverwurst) or put on (like gelbwurst) bread.

personally i like currywurst when it comes to meals and gelbwurst as far as something for putting on a slice of bread is concerned.

liverwurst tastes good but it usually extremely fat and very bad for your cholesterol.

One can't go wrong with Leberwurst here in the states. Though I haven't found any good Bratwurst since I've moved here from Germany. I like to get me some Blood & Tounge sausage from time to time, reminds me of home.
Once back in Germany for vitits, I endulge on Knackwurst, Leberkaese, Gruetzwurst, Bierschinken, etc. Stuff I can't get here.

I lived in Mexico city for a time and there was this really good german butcher and deli known as Fritz, he made the best sausages which I know only as chubli, similar to a polish sausage but with its only unique taste.

Bratwurst. We love Bratwurst.

We include them in the mixed grill when we're grilling out kielbasa, chorizos and steaks. Occasionally when I find a local hot sausage I include that also.

I like liverwurst- it's good on crackers, or spread thickly on a piece of rye or pumpernickle bread with a good German beer to wash it down.

My family is german, and I like bratwurst, but you know what? I absolutely love fresh HUNGARIAN sausages with german recipes like Spaetzle or potato pancakes, or potato kugel.
It is hard to find.....Wow...I miss that stuff.
