appreciate the advice, but i currently live in japan. i'm familiar with the language, but am having a hard time choosing something. another question of opinion though: if i were to get a couple of kanji tats, help me choose where...i can't decide b/w one on the back of each tricep, right side of my chest, or one on the inside of each forearm. if you're a chic who likes tattoos, what do you think is hott?

Out of curiosity, why do you want one? I'm Japanese and have to laugh when I see white people with Kan'ji permanently marked on themselves. Also, I've seen two people who got screwed - one guy insisted his tattoo (fairly large, on his bicep) meant "Love" but his character actually meant "Bearing Fruit." Another chick had what she thought was a poem on the back of her neck and it was just a bunch of random characters artfully put together.

If you must have kan'ji inked, go to an Asian tattoo artist. They're the only ones who will get it done right and not give you an inappropriate meaning.

Triple check your tat or you could end up like these people: http://www.hanzismatter.com/ Which is also a good resource on how to get a GOOD Japanese or Chinese tattoo.

If you live in the Miami area of Florida, I highly suggest Ami James and Yogi Harata. You can check out their work on the TLC channel if you're interested in them.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE go see an Asian artist before you get anything done.

I am Asian and I always wonder why non-asian people did not check and double check before getting their tat.

There are tons of internet sites but your best bet is to see someone who specializes in person.
