Hello - I started taking 2 Metformin @ 500mg each and 1 Glipizide 10mg each yesterday. I took my first dose of Metformin and Glipizide around 9:30am this morning. At 2pm my blood sugar was around 71, so I figured I'd better eat something before I started floppin around on the ground. Well it's 3:50pm now, just got back and my blood sugar is at 214, would it be safe to take my 2nd dose of Metformin and Glipizide now?

Most oral meds are taken on a schedule.
Didn't your doctor go over this with you? I think you need a new doctor.. a good endocrinologist.

You want to keep the levels of meds in your body pretty equal so I take my oral meds with breakfast and again with dinner each day. Please check with your doctor and you will need to do tons of blood sugar checks until you are all set.
Good luck.

Maybe your doses are not correct and that is why you were 71. You may have taken too much to eat and overcompensated therefore skyrocketing your blood sugar. Take the meds when you are supposed to. Call your doc and ask if the dosage needs to be changed.
