You think you've got a yeast infection. But instead of calling the doctor, you head over to the drugstore for some of that over-the-counter medication you've seen on TV.
Don't be surprised if you've got company in the aisle when you get there. An estimated 75 percent of all women will develop a yeast infection at some point during their lives. Consequently, a lot of women have been reaching for the over-the-counter creams that debuted on drugstore shelves in 1991. In 1991 and 1992 one of those products, Monistat 7, was the number two seller among all over-the-counter products introduced since 1975, ranking second only to Advil. Gyne-Lotrimin, another intravaginal cream, was in the top ten.
But studies suggest that half the women who buy over-the-counter products for what they think is a yeast infection don't have one at all, says Sharon Hillier, Ph.D., research associate professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. "What we find is that they always have something else that needs to be diagnosed correctly," she says.
So while getting your hands on yeast medications may be easy, getting a handle on whether you really have a yeast infection may be another story.

here is a site that helps understand discharge

if you are a male, beside irritation, white discharge can indicate
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea or other std's

Sounds like a bacterial infection. The only infection that I know of that can be cured over the counter is a yeast infection. All others I'm pretty sure need a prescription. Go to the dr. Especially if you already tried the yeast infection meds. Best of luck!

It sounds to me like you still have yeast infection. If you used an at home product and it still did not go away, then you need to go to the doctor. They should be able to let you know whatever is wrong with you!

it sounds like a bacteria infection, which you would need medication for. yeast infection meds wont make it go away. depending on your age, it could be hormonal, too. when i went through puberty, i had a similar problem...it ended up going away. but i am by no means saying that you should ignore the problem...if you dont have it checked out, you make have a more serious problem down the line

It is not always an infection. It is normal, it is discharge. Another fun part of being a woman. This is why they make mini-pads. You should always check with your doc if you think something is wrong. You know better than anyone else. I'm just sayin' don't freak 'cause I had the same issue and my mom swore I was having sex..
Good Luck
